Transforming Foundation Industries Network+ Launch Event
Event Details
About this Event
The foundation industries (namely glass, ceramics, metals, paper, cement and bulk chemicals) are worth £52B per annum to the UK’s economy but account for 10% of the UKs total CO2 emissions.
In recognition of the global and national importance of these industries, the Engineering and Physical Science Research Council has awarded £2M of funds to form the TFI Network+ which aims to assist the foundation industries to remain competitive whilst simultaneously facing challenges from environmental legislation and the drive towards net-zero carbon 2050.
This goal of the Network Plus is to provide a new cross-sector and multi-disciplinary community for the ‘ISCF Transforming Foundation Industries’ programme that work together to address common challenges and accelerate the development and adoption of new technologies and business models within the Foundation Industries. The network will draw on a wide range of expertise, knowledge and experience across business and research stakeholders.
This event introduces the TFI Network+ and highlights the challenges that the network will be addressing. It will feature speakers from the funding agencies, industry and academia and offer an opportunity for participants to engage in a Q&A session with partners.
Speakers at the Network+ launch include:
- Andrew Large of the Paper Confederation
- Laura Cohen of the British Ceramics Confederation
- Laura Baker, Chair of the IOM3 Iron & Steel committee
- Justin Perry of Northumberland University
- Paul Bingham of Sheffield Hallam University
- Bruce Adderley — Challenge Director — Transforming Foundation Industries. Read more and register
