Manchester ‘surges’ in rankings for world’s most innovative universities
The University of Manchester has “surged” 27 places on a prestigious list ranking the world’s most innovative universities. Manchester is now ranked 53rd on the ‘Reuters Top 100: The World’s Most Innovative Universities’ list, jumping nearly 30 places on last year’s 80th position. It makes the University the biggest mover on the 2018 league table. The Reuters Top 100 list “identifies and ranks the educational institutions doing the most to advance science, invent new technologies and power new markets and industries”. The judges of this year’s ranking say Manchester’s jump is largely due to the University’s “groundbreaking research” into the super-material, Graphene, which was isolated at the University in 2004.
